Lois PARK was born on 5 April 1817 in Port Medway, Queens County, Nova Scotia. She died on 23 December 1853 at the age of 36 in Port Burwell, Elgin County, Ontario. Lois married James Bangs, and it appears had two children, both of who died young. I have two stories as to their burial, and one of them says that they are buried in the Berean [?] Cemetery at Port Burwell, Ontario, but this I haven't been able to verify.
The "son" James, may not have existed, and the grave site may be of the" husband" James Bangs. None of this is clear. However if Lois is buried in Port Burwell and James died a number of years later, it would follow that he is buried there as well.
I don't know when they came to Malachite Township, but they must have been in the group that came in the 1840's as they would have been too young to have come with the first group in the 1830's.
This James Bangs was known as a "49er" as he apparently visited the gold fields of California, bringing back some gold nuggets as souvenirs. I know nothing further about this family and it appears, at least as of this writing [1996] that they left no descendants. Parents: William PARK and Elizabeth COHOON.

Malcolm Gordon PARK was born on 7 April 1924 in Petite Riviere, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. He died on 13 March 2010 at the age of 85 in Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. He was cremated. Malcolm Parks informs me that his branch and most of those in Nova Scotia spell the name with an "s". [Parks]. In the Port Medway branches it is spelled with an "e" [Parks]. Those in Ontario spelled in variously Parks and Parks, even within the same family. For the sake of continuity I have spelled all listings PARK as this was, I understand the original of the Scottish form of the surname.
Malcolm Gordon Parks was a Professor at the Dalhousie University 1956-1989. He retired in 1989 and resides this date [February 1996] in Petite Riviere. He lives in the house that his grand father Joseph Nelson Parks built in 1885. He tells me that this house stands no more than three hundred yards from the site of the first Matthew Park home. It is long gone now, but the house built by the Sperry family who bought the property from his son John Parks in 1824 is still standing.
