Liverpool Advance December 29, 1915 : The entire community was saddended on Friday last December 24th on learning of the sudden death of Harris H. Cooney, one of Black Point's highly respected citizens. After breakfast on Friday Mr. Cooney, apparently in his usual good health, went to the shore to repair some bait bags. Finishing these he crossed over to the skids and assisted in hauling up a boat. Soon after, whie conversing with Mr. Lemuel Coolen and others, he was seen to suddenly collaspe, and without a murmur he passed to the Great Beyond. Mr. Cooney, son of the late John Cooney, was born at East Port Medway some 56 years ago. For some years he followed the sea, and for thirteen years was in the employment of the New England Telephone Company. In 1909 he married Mary, the second daughter of J. J. Munroe, Black Point, who survives him. A year ago he came to reside at Black Point, where he won for himself, by his kind disposition, a warm place in the hearts of all who knew him. Mr. Cooney was an honored member of the Port Medway Baptist Church. The funeral services on Monday, conducted by Rev. G. W. Ball and W. H. Watts, were largely attended, interment being in the Congregational Cemetery, at Liverpool. To the sorrowing widow and relatives we extend our heart felt sympathy.
