"Dear Niece Mable,
You have received my last letter I am sure as I received yours. Sister looked very peaceful and had a nice casket with nice silk linings. Several sprays of nice flowers from Relatives and Friends. The church sent a spray of pinks-the W.C.T.U. a spray of pink snap dragons with green ferns and small feathery plumes. Rev. Mr. Martin of Wesley M.E. Church officiated and he was fine. He said he knew she was a good woman by her looks -did not say this at service- I see by the White Bow Pin which denoted she belongs to a band of noble women who are trying to do what is right for their country.
Wesley and wife went back to NY Monday eve. There was no will so an administrator will have to be appointed and law will have to take its course before Director of funeral expenses are paid The others are paid, such as nurse and medicines, the Dr. would have had his if he had brought in a decent bill, but charged $65.00 for 9 days that did not include any medicines and his office was in the building and did not have to put himself out much to come and see her. I think you met the doctor when you were here. Well, we feel sister is with her loved ones and she has suffered a long time with this bladder trouble and it is all over.
Brother Wesley and wife are on their vacation now, for two weeks, going to Niagara Falls. Their address when home is- C.W. Parks 2869 Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ
Atwood would send his love if he was here--he had only two days work last week and none the week before on account of the Railroad strike-no steel to work with- I am glad Marguerite[sp] [Marguerite] is doing well in school.
I found this paper in Sister's box of writing paper so am writing to you on it and no one else. Glad to hear from you any time, Yours Lillian."
