James PARK was born about 1718 in Ireland. He died on 25 January 1813 at the age of 95 in Petite Riviere, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. [Introduction from the notes of P. Mombourquette on the "Park family: James]
quote.. "This family history concentrates on the descendants of James Park of Petite Riviere, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
Official records and documents establish that two brothers, James and John, and Matthew [possibly a cousin] from Northern Ireland settled at Petite Riviere between 1760-1770. All were without a doubt Scots Irish emigrants from Ulster. Because of the lack of information about families emigrating form Ulster in the latter half of the eighteenth century, the authors have not, at the time of this printing, been able to trace the antecedents of the Parks family in Ulster.
Although no ship lists have survived to tell us when in the 1760's and by what route these particular emigrants arrived in Nova Scotia, it is possible, even probable, that James, John and Matthew Park came to the province in a ship chartered by Colonel Alexander McNutt [*see notes under Matthew Park for third theory disproved*] and Ulsterman who was responsible for the settling of any of his fellow countrymen in Nova Scotia. Of all his shipments of emigrants in the 1760's only one was directed to New Dublin Township, that portion of present-day Lunenburg County, extending from the La Have River westward to what is now Queen's County, and including Petite Riviere. In 1762, when McNutt advertised for emigrants in Londonderry, 150-200 responded and sailed in late August form that port aboard the vessels "Nancy" and "Hopewell". These immigrants arrived in Halifax early in November, were greeted by the Lieutenant-Governor, Jonathan Belcher, and were then sent along the coast to New Dublin Township. While there are no records to indicate whether or not the Park families were among these settlers, the coincidence of their presence in the Petite Riviere area in the same decade in which this sole official Scots-Irish settlement took place is worthy of note.
Without evidence based on research in Northern Ireland, the place of origin of these Park families is of course unknown. One clue that emerges from accounts of emigration from Ulster in the 1770's however, points to County Tyrone as the home of at least some Park families. In 1772 and again in 1775 a Samuel Park was an emigration agent in Stewartstown. a place a few miles west of Lough Neagh, and in 1774 a Robert Park of Stewartstown was actin in the same capacity.
Several theories have been advanced to account for the ancestors of James Park leaving Scotland to settle in Ulster. One theory has it that in the 1740's, after the defeat of Charles Edward Stuart, at the Battle of Culloden, when many of his followers fled for their lives, the Park families were among those who crossed over into Ireland. Another theory is that an ancestor of James moved or was required to move, form Scotland to Ireland as part of the "Plantation of Ulster, the systematic settling of English and Scottish Protestants in Ulster which began under James I and continued sporadically form many decades afterwards. All that is definitely known, however is that James Park was a successful "yarn merchant" and farmer who carried on the business of weaving and spinning, and settled with his family at Petite Riviere." end quote

Eleanor and both boys died circa 1840 in Nova Scotia, and James removed to Malachite Township Elgin County in 1845, purchasing 100 acres of land , the S 1/2 of Lot 25, Concession 3 of Malachite Township, Elgin County from Reuben McConnell. He married in 1850, Maria McConnell, whose brother James McConnell later married his sister Jerusha, both being children of Joseph and Mary Shook McConnell. They lived on this farm until their deaths, he in 1882 and she in 1904. James died, suddenly, it appears, at age 43 years. This is the age given on his gravestone at the Aylmer cemetery There was no will. He is buried in a large plot in the Aylmer Cemetery with an obelisk type marker about six feet tall. James never married. The Museum in Aylmer has examples of his photographic work, which I have not been able to see, as they tell me it is packed away and only brought out once a year. He is mentioned as Mary Ann's son, in her obituary "many older citizens will remember her son J.D. Parks, who predeceased her." Parents: Atwood Deane PARK and Mary Ann HARLOW.

James Edwin PARK was born on 17 January 1858 in Port Burwell, Elgin County, Ontario. He died in 1948 at the age of 90 in Aylmer, Ontario, Canada. James Edwin, known as "Ed", never married and stayed on the family farm. He was a wood worker and made items for the local farmers. His sisters Elly and Gus lived with him. A relative says that when she was a little girl she was proud to be related to these people, as when they came to "town" [Aylmer] they were exquisitely tailored, sophisticated and very impressive in their horse drawn carriage. Ed finally sold the farm and moved into Aylmer where he died. Parents: James PARK and Maria MCCONNELL.

Aylmer Sun March 5th 1896 pg.5: " It is our sad duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. James Clunas which occurred Saturday Morning. Mrs Clunas was taken ill with lung trouble in July. She recovered, however, and was thought by her friends to be quite well. But in September she was again attacked this time with an abscess since which time she has gradually faded till death put an end to her most dreadful suffering. She was in her forty sixth year and was highly respected. She leaves a sorrowing husband and five children mourn the loss of a loving mother. The funeral was held Tuesday in the Methodist Church. Services were conducted by Rev. A.H. Going, of this place, of whose church she was a valued member."

Aylmer Sun, March 5th 1896 pg.3: " Was are sorry to have to announce the death of Mrs. James Clunas which occurred on Saturday last at her residence south west of Springfield after a lingering illness. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Church, Aylmer on Tuesday, and the interment took place in the Aylmer Cemetery. Deceased, having formerly lived here, was well known, much respected by a large circle of friends who extend to the bereaved husband and five children their sympathy."

Aylmer Express March 5, 1896. pg.1 : On Saturday last, Jennie C., wife of Mr. Jas. Clunas died at her home in Malahide in her 46th year. For a long time she has been a patient sufferer from consumption, bearing her suffering with true Christian patience and fortitude. Mrs. Clunas enjoyed the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends, by whom she will be mourned and missed. She was a member of the Springfield Methodist Church for many years where her faithful work will be missed. The husband and family have the sympathy of all. Funeral services were held in the Aylmer Methodist Church on Tuesday, the Rev. Going preaching an effusive sermon. The interment took place in the Aylmer Cemetery."
