BAKER, Edward C. - The death occurred at Port Medway on March 23, 1923 at the home of his son, G. Herbert Baker, of Edward C. Baker aged 76 years. He had been in failing health for some months but was only confined to his room for a few weeks. Death was due to a complication of diseases. All that could be was done to alleviate his suffering. Mr. Baker came to Port Medway from Halifax over fifty years ago. He was for some time employed as stevedore and in the lumber industry. For several years he resided in Liverpool, returning here about ten years ago. He always took an interest in affairs for the good of the place and was of a kind and friendly disposition ready to lend a helping hand to any in need. He was a consistent member for years of the Anglican Church and acted as warden at one time. He was three times married. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss. Bethia Mailman, and one son, G. Herbert Baker and two daughters, Marina, (Mrs. Arthur McConnell), and Georgina, (Mrs. Charles Zwicker). The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. N. Bamford.
