Richard Roy BAKER was born on 14 September 1942 in Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia. He died of leukemia on 19 June 1952 at the age of 9 in Port Medway, Queens County, Nova Scotia. He was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Port Medway.

BAKER, Richard Roy - The death occurred suddenly early Thursday morning, June 19, 1952 of Richard Roy Baker, younger son of Perleigh and Alice (Hiltz) Baker of Port Medway. Everything possible was done for his comfort and to restore him to health. He had recently returned home from the Children's Hospital in Halifax. Richard would have been ten years old in September and had just received his promotion card to Grade 5. He was such a friendly little lad, beloved by his folks and a favourite with young and old. The funeral service conducted by the rector, the Rev. D. Batten, was on Saturday afternoon in the Anglican Church. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. The teachers and children of the school and Sunday Schools walked there carrying flowers. At the gates they formed in two lines and the flower covered casket was carried by Fordan Baker, Ernest Selig, Jimmy and David Clements to the family lot. After the prayers each child dropped a flower in the small grave and the hymn "Jewels" was sung. Surviving besides the parents are a sister, Norma, and a brother Reginald, the grandparents Roy and Annie (Payzant) Hiltz and Avernia (Rhodenizer) Baker, also many other relatives. The date of James' birth does not seem correct. [from Haggan papers and gravestone inscription.] If he was indeed born in 1929, then he would have only been 10 years of age at the time of his daughter's birth. It would seem that a date of 1819 would be more in keeping with the other dates known.
